Cura Contemporary
CURA is a contemporary art gallery nestled in the heart of downtown Morgan Hill, CA. The name Cura derives from Latin, meaning help or care, reflecting our commitment to supporting artists while enriching the lives of the people in our community. Our mission is to become an arts destination for the greater Bay Area and to invigorate the local art scene in the South Bay by creating opportunities for growth and connection. We have two floors of exhibition space that alternate monthly with group and solo shows so there is always something new on display. Our roster of over forty artists includes both emerging and mid-career artists whose work has a strong sense of materiality and whose practices embrace process. The work is tactile, colorful, and unexpected across a wide mix of mediums including painting, photography, works on paper, textile, ceramic, glass, wood, and jewelry. Designed to be a work of art itself, the Edes Building features architectural elements that work together to create a striking, sculpture-like exterior inspired by the local landscape of Morgan Hill and El Toro Peak. Rotating walls allow for flexible gallery spaces to be combined or separated for exhibitions, events and workshops. Upcoming workshops include oil painting, pastel, watercolor, and printmaking as well as a monthly figure drawing collective for intermediate to advanced artists. We also offer free and affordable workshops and events for children.
