Aguman Capampangan Northwest USA
About Aguman Capampangan Northwest USA
The Aguman Capampangan Northwest USA represents a vibrant community of Kapampangans—one of the major ethnic groups from the Philippines—who came together in Sherwood, OR to build meaningful connections and mutual support. Founded on June 29, 1996, the organization began as a social club when friends recognized the need for camaraderie among Pampangans in the area and sought to strengthen the bonds they shared as cabalens (townmates). What started as a small gathering at Oaks Park in Portland has grown into a respected non-profit organization with deep roots in both the local community and the Philippines. The Aguman's heart lies in preserving Kapampangan heritage and language while making a tangible difference in the lives of others. The organization celebrates its cultural identity through Santa Cruzan events and collaborates with international partners to keep the Kapampangan language and traditions alive. More significantly, the Aguman has evolved into a humanitarian force, sending medical and dental missions to the Philippines since 1998—work that has touched the lives of thousands of vulnerable people. The organization demonstrates its commitment to serving those in need both abroad and at home, including supporting homeless populations in the Portland area. Through yearly Christmas caroling and spring Luau celebrations, the Aguman builds community while raising funds for its charitable endeavors, embodying the spirit of bayanihan (communal unity) that defines Filipino culture.
