About Alliance for LGBTQ Youth
Since 2008, the Alliance for LGBTQ Youth has served as a lifesaving resource for queer and trans young people throughout North Miami and South Florida. This organization was founded on the recognition that LGBTQ youth face disproportionate challenges including discrimination, mental health crises, and systemic barriers—and that connecting with affirming community can be transformative. The Alliance's mission centers on serving, nurturing, and empowering LGBTQ youth, their families, and their communities while advocating for equal rights and equitable treatment. The organization operates from core values that recognize LGBTQ youth as experts of their own lives and lived experiences, prioritizing anti-racist and anti-oppression principles in all work. The Alliance is distinguished by its commitment to co-creating joyful, celebratory spaces that foster well-being and pride while building power among young people as active leaders for social justice. Through its ChangeMakers youth leadership program and dedicated staff led by Executive Director Pauline Green, the organization cultivates authentic, liberated existence for LGBTQ youth. The Alliance represents a community-rooted approach to youth development, operating with the belief that young people possess innate power to transform their own lives and their communities. As the organization expands with a provider role in the upcoming Children's Village at Lotus Village opening in Fall 2025, it continues deepening its commitment to affirming, trauma-informed care in the North Miami area.
