Alliance Francaise de Cincinnati
About Alliance Francaise de Cincinnati
Since its founding in 1901 by Auguste Fredin, Consul of France in Cincinnati, Alliance Française de Cincinnati has served as the heart of French and Francophone cultural exchange in the Tri-State region. As an independent chapter of the worldwide Alliance Française network—established in Paris in 1883 by visionaries including Jules Verne and Louis Pasteur—the organization carries a proud legacy of promoting cross-cultural understanding and friendship between American and French communities. Run entirely by passionate volunteer board members, Alliance Française de Cincinnati is dedicated to fostering appreciation for French language and Francophone cultures while creating meaningful connections among people who share these interests. The organization's mission extends beyond language instruction to include information sharing, cultural events, and social gatherings that celebrate the richness of French-speaking worlds. By joining Alliance Française de Cincinnati, members become part of a global movement spanning 100 U.S. chapters and over 30,000 members worldwide, while contributing to the vibrant cultural fabric of Cincinnati, Ohio. This non-profit 501(c)(3) institution welcomes individuals from all walks of life who are passionate about France, French language, and Francophone cultures, offering them a community of like-minded people united by shared cultural enthusiasm and appreciation.
