About Alliance Francaise de Greater Orlando
Since its establishment as a Rollins College section in 1959 and its transition to independent status in 1975, the Alliance Française of Greater Orlando has served as the heart of French cultural life throughout Central Florida. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, AFGO is part of the prestigious worldwide Alliance Française network, which has championed French language and culture globally since its 1883 founding in Paris. The organization operates under a mission threefold: offering French language education to all segments of society, encouraging cultural diversity and international exchange, and promoting the rich heritage of France and French-speaking countries. Managed by a dedicated President and Board of Directors, AFGO has built deep roots in the Orlando, FL community by creating meaningful connections between residents and Francophone culture. The chapter encompasses four counties of Central Florida, making it an accessible hub for anyone interested in French language study or cultural engagement. AFGO's commitment extends beyond the classroom, fostering community through membership programs, social events, and cultural conversations that welcome both longtime enthusiasts and newcomers alike. By combining educational rigor with genuine community spirit, the Alliance Française of Greater Orlando honors its international legacy while remaining deeply invested in the local fabric of Central Florida, helping residents discover the beauty of French language, culture, and the broader Francophone world.
