Alliance Francaise de Kansas City
About Alliance Francaise de Kansas City
Since 1963, Alliance Française de Kansas City has served as the greater Kansas City region's premier hub for French language learning and Francophone cultural celebration, rooted in the values of the international Alliance Française movement founded in Paris in 1883. Operating from Prairie Village, KS, AFKC is a non-political, non-discriminatory nonprofit dedicated to fostering friendship and collaboration between the Kansas City community and the French-speaking world. The organization welcomes everyone—from native speakers and fluent practitioners to curious beginners and newcomers to the area—creating an inclusive environment where members exchange ideas, practice language skills, and deepen their appreciation for French and Francophone cultures. AFKC provides a vital support network for exchange students and French-speakers relocating to Kansas City, helping them build meaningful connections and acclimate to their new community. Through regular member gatherings, cultural celebrations marking significant French traditions, and volunteer opportunities in event organization and teaching assistance, AFKC cultivates deep community bonds among French language enthusiasts. The organization's success relies on passionate staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors who collectively bring the Alliance Française mission to life. By becoming a member or participating in AFKC's diverse programming, individuals join a global network of over 800 Alliances spanning 129 countries, connecting local engagement with worldwide French cultural and linguistic traditions.
