About American Council for Polish Culture
Based in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, the American Council for Polish Culture represents a unique national movement dedicated to celebrating and preserving the heritage of Polish Americans. Established in 1948 when representatives from thirteen Polish organizations came together with a shared vision, the Council has grown into the only comprehensive umbrella organization in the United States uniting local Polonia cultural clubs and associations. The organization's mission centers on inspiring appreciation, promotion, and sharing of Poland's rich culture, heritage, and history among Polish-American communities and the broader public.
The Council embodies a philosophy of strength through unity, viewing each member organization as a facet of a diamond that reflects and draws strength from others. With nearly 250 individual members and subscribers, plus support from 13 major Polish-American cultural organizations across multiple states, the ACPC creates meaningful connections across generations. The organization recognizes that each local club functions within its own community while contributing to a larger national movement. Through scholarship opportunities for children and grandchildren of members, annual conventions held at locations across the country, and the publication of Polish Heritage, the Council fosters cultural continuity and intergenerational engagement. The organization's commitment extends internationally, having sponsored conventions in Poland and Canada, demonstrating its dedication to strengthening ties between Polish Americans and their ancestral homeland.
