Serving the Falls Church, VA community and the world, the American Council on Women, Peace, and Security represents a collective commitment to advancing peace and security for women, their families, and communities. Founded by civil society and academic professionals who have worked together for many years on critical issues of women's human dignity, ACWPS operates as a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to a vision where every woman and girl lives in peace, empowered to lead and uplift her family and community toward human flourishing. The organization is deeply committed to sisters across the globe, seeking innovative and collaborative ways to help them build peace, human freedom, and prosperity through their leadership in family, community, and society. ACWPS distinguishes itself through its focus on common sense in women, peace, and security policy, working to ensure that implementation of the U.S. Women Peace and Security Act of 2017 supports equal protection, dignity, and opportunity for all individuals affected by conflict. The organization amplifies voices often excluded from peace conversations: adult children born of wartime rape now building peace, young people committed to defending fundamental rights, military personnel with underrecognized experiences, and under-resourced communities seeking balanced investment in education. Through education and training, on-the-ground engagement, expert analysis, and advocacy, ACWPS has helped thousands of practitioners understand the original intent and purpose of women, peace, and security law while fostering inclusive international partnerships.
