American-Hellenic Foundation of Western Pennsylvania
About American-Hellenic Foundation of Western Pennsylvania
Serving the Pittsburgh, PA community and beyond, the American-Hellenic Foundation of Western Pennsylvania honors the rich legacy of Greek immigration while building bridges between cultures, institutions, and economies. Established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit, the Foundation celebrates the profound contributions Greek-Americans have made to Western Pennsylvania's development—from the steel mills and coal factories that shaped the region's industrial heritage to today's successful entrepreneurs, academic leaders, and philanthropists. The Foundation's mission centers on fostering greater understanding of Greek culture, history, language, and arts through scholarships, research funding, and educational programs at worthy institutions of higher learning throughout Western Pennsylvania. By connecting the broader community with every aspect of modern and historical Greece, the Foundation serves as a vital meeting place for students, visitors, and individuals passionate about learning and cultural exchange. The Foundation's vision includes establishing a Hellenic Cultural Center and Heritage Museum that will showcase Greek immigrants' contributions to local life while demonstrating how Western Pennsylvania's products and innovations shaped Greece's industrial development and continue influencing the region's technological advancement. Through community outreach, cultural events, academic exchanges, and collaborative partnerships, the American-Hellenic Foundation of Western Pennsylvania strengthens intergenerational and intercultural connections while advancing mutual understanding between American and Greek communities.
