Since 1990, the Ames Chapter of the Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance has been a cornerstone of professional community for women in accounting and finance across central Iowa. As part of a national organization founded in 1938 to increase opportunities for women in all accounting and finance fields, the Ames chapter embodies a mission to enable women to achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to their profession.
The organization brings together 17 members with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and career paths—from recent graduates beginning their studies to seasoned professionals and retirees. What unites them is a shared commitment to empowerment, integrity, leadership, and passion. Members in Ames, Iowa work in public accounting, education, government, and corporate settings, creating a rich network of professional relationships and mutual support.
Beyond monthly meetings and professional gatherings, the Ames chapter demonstrates deep roots in its community through educational initiatives.
