About Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento
Founded in 1981, the Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento (ABAS) represents a cornerstone of community advocacy and professional camaraderie in Sacramento, California. This voluntary bar association was born from a commitment to promote and protect the interests of Asian and Pacific Islander American attorneys and the broader API communities throughout the greater Sacramento area. ABAS members—including attorneys, judges, law students, and community allies—unite around shared values of professional development, community service, and meaningful advocacy on issues affecting their communities. The organization has established itself as a dynamic voice within both the Sacramento legal community and the Asian/Pacific Islander American communities, serving in leadership roles on local issues while maintaining a statewide presence advocating for the Asian American community. As a founding member of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) and co-founder of both the Asian/Pacific Bar of California (ABC) and the Unity Bar Association of Sacramento, ABAS has demonstrated consistent commitment to building bridges across the legal profession. Beyond professional networking and fellowship, ABAS is deeply invested in community service through its affiliated ABAS Law Foundation, which provides educational scholarships and supports charitable law-related projects benefiting the API community. Operating as a certified affiliate of the Sacramento County Bar Association, ABAS continues its legacy of fostering meaningful connections, providing a forum for members to express perspectives on important social, political, and legal matters, and serving the greater Sacramento community with dedication and purpose.
