About Beta Tau Chapter of Kappa Delta
The Beta Tau Chapter of Kappa Delta represents over 125 years of tradition, having originated from four visionary young women at the State Female Normal School of Virginia in 1897 who sought to create something higher and nobler. Today, this historic sorority continues that founding dream by empowering women through friendship and high ideals at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The chapter honors its heritage while building a vibrant community of confident women committed to making a positive impact on campus and beyond.
At its heart, Kappa Delta is built on the belief that together, women can accomplish more than they could alone. This philosophy drives everything Beta Tau does, from fostering deep sisterhood bonds to inspiring members to become active leaders and responsible citizens in their communities. The chapter provides a welcoming space where diverse women can grow together, support one another, and develop the confidence needed to excel in all aspects of life.
Kappa Delta's philanthropic mission is central to the Nashville chapter's work. Through the Kappa Delta Foundation and local community outreach programs, members contribute to causes that matter while developing their own sense of purpose and service. The organization provides educational scholarships and growth opportunities that extend beyond college, recognizing that member development is a lifelong journey.
Beta Tau at Vanderbilt embodies the values of olive green and pearl white—colors symbolizing the organization's commitment to integrity, loyalty, and personal growth. Members join a national community of 300,000 women who share these ideals, creating friendships and connections that endure throughout life. In Nashville, Beta Tau continues the legacy of building confident women who inspire action and create meaningful change in their communities and the world.
