About 100 Black Men of Indianapolis
Founded in 1984, 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, Inc. has established itself as a cornerstone youth development organization serving the Indianapolis, IN area through dedicated mentoring and educational programming. The organization emerged from a legacy spanning back to 1963, when concerned African-American men in New York City began exploring innovative ways to strengthen their communities through youth-focused initiatives. Today, the Indianapolis chapter operates as part of a nationwide movement with over 100 chapters worldwide, all sharing a unified vision of positive youth transformation. Comprised of members and volunteers representing diverse backgrounds and experiences, the organization embodies a shared commitment to helping children realize their potential. The heart of their mission centers on the powerful principle that young people become what they see modeled before them—a concept that drives every volunteer's role as a mentor and role model. 100 Black Men of Indianapolis envisions a future where their youth development programs, combined with strong partnerships across schools and communities, positively impact the mental, physical, moral, and spiritual development of young people throughout the region. The organization recognizes that meaningful change happens through collaboration, which is why they actively partner with local school districts, universities, and other community organizations. Their holistic approach to youth development extends beyond academics to encompass personal responsibility, leadership capabilities, and essential life skills. By investing in mentorship relationships and educational programming, 100 Black Men of Indianapolis creates transformative opportunities for the hundreds of young people they serve each year in Indianapolis.
