Founded nearly three decades ago by a dedicated group of African-American men in Baton Rouge, LA, 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge, LTD. emerged from a powerful commitment to improve social and economic conditions within the community. The organization is rooted in the principle that Black men must take responsibility for improving their communities and must educate and empower youth to do the same, creating a legacy of leadership, responsibility, and guidance that extends far beyond individual achievement.
Since its inception, 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge has impacted thousands of families and tens of thousands of youth through transformative programs and community events. The organization's influence extends throughout the region—from the Back to School Expo that once provided school supplies and health screenings to up to 5,000 youth annually, to anti-violence and civic engagement billboards that have positively influenced hundreds of thousands of local residents and visitors. This deep community integration reflects the organization's unwavering dedication to creating meaningful change.
As part of the national 100 Black Men of America, Inc. network—an international nonprofit impacting more than 125,000 youth across the United States and abroad—the Baton Rouge chapter carries forward a vision first established in 1963. The organization's guiding philosophy centers on developing the next generation of leaders who possess the talent, courage, and effectiveness needed to address community challenges.
