About 100 Black Men of Syracuse Inc.

Founded in 2007 by Jerome Walker and Walter Eiland, 100 Black Men of Syracuse Inc. emerged from a grassroots vision to rebuild community strength and address critical challenges facing the Greater Syracuse area. What began as a gathering of 25 to 30 concerned African-American men has grown into a chartered affiliate of the national 100 Black Men of America organization, formally inducted in 2009. The organization is rooted in the belief that positive adult role models are essential to youth success and community vitality, operating from the principle that when people work together with shared responsibility, communities flourish. Operating from their base in Syracuse, NY, the organization pursues its mission through education, mentorship, and service—three interconnected pillars that guide all programming decisions. Members demonstrate deep commitment through volunteer collaboration with local organizations and active participation in community events including Juneteenth celebrations, youth impact programs, and acts of kindness initiatives. The organization's leadership, including current President Drake Harrison and past presidents Vincent Love and Louis Clark, exemplifies the mentoring philosophy by sharing personal experiences and modeling accountability. 100 Black Men of Syracuse maintains partnerships with schools, community organizations, and technology alliances to create pathways for youth development while honoring the vision that stronger African-American presence and engagement strengthens the entire Syracuse community.
