BU Middle Eastern Dental Student Association

Located at Boston University's prestigious Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, the Middle Eastern Dental Student Association represents a commitment to cultural inclusion and community-centered education within the dental profession. MEDSA's mission centers on creating an environment where all members of the dental school community—students, faculty, and staff—can explore, celebrate, and learn from the rich diversity of Middle Eastern and North African cultures.

Founded on principles of cultural awareness and mutual respect, MEDSA works collaboratively across the Boston University Medical Center to organize cultural celebrations, festivals, and awareness events that honor various traditions and occasions throughout the year. The organization recognizes that healthcare providers serve increasingly diverse patient populations and believes that cultural competency begins with understanding and appreciation among peers.

Beyond cultural celebration, MEDSA addresses pressing health issues affecting Middle Eastern and North African communities, combining academic rigor with advocacy. This dual focus—celebration and health equity—reflects the values embedded throughout Boston University's dental medicine program, which emphasizes service learning and bringing dental knowledge to underserved communities both locally and globally.

MEDSA membership includes DMD students at all levels, faculty advisors, and interested members of the broader Boston University Medical Campus community. The organization provides networking opportunities, professional development, and a supportive community for students who wish to engage meaningfully with their cultural heritage while advancing their dental careers. By fostering dialogue and understanding, MEDSA contributes to a more inclusive dental profession prepared to serve all patients with cultural sensitivity and excellence.
