About Canadian Federation of University Women Calgary
Since 1923, the Canadian Federation of University Women Calgary has served as a cornerstone organization for women graduates throughout Calgary, AB, fostering lifelong friendships and meaningful community impact. The organization welcomes women with degrees, diplomas, or equivalent qualifications from recognized universities worldwide, as well as those who share CFUW's commitment to education, gender equity, and social advancement. At its heart, CFUW Calgary is an organization of women committed to promoting the pursuit of knowledge and education, providing opportunities for fellowship and networking, facilitating challenging conversations that drive intellectual growth, and supporting university students through scholarships and bursaries. The Calgary chapter operates as part of a larger national and international network through the Canadian Federation of University Women, connecting members to advocacy efforts and collaborative initiatives across Canada and beyond, including affiliations with Graduate Women International and the International Alliance of Women. What distinguishes CFUW Calgary is its adaptive approach to member engagement—activities and groups respond organically to the interests and evolving concerns of the community. Whether through creative pursuits like quilting, culinary experiences, cultural exploration, or intellectual discourse, the organization creates space for women to contribute collectively or individually to public affairs while building supportive networks. With a rich history including advocacy for Calgary's university system and pioneering work in establishing childcare and school libraries, CFUW Calgary continues this legacy of progressive action and community service in Calgary, AB, guided by members who have dedicated 50 or more years to the organization's mission.
