Canadian Federation of University Women North Vancouver
About Canadian Federation of University Women North Vancouver
Since its founding in 1980, Canadian Federation of University Women North Vancouver has served as a vital community hub for educated women committed to social change and mutual support. Established when the West Vancouver chapter outgrew its meeting space, this North Vancouver, BC-based organization has grown into a thriving community of approximately 50 members united by shared values of women's empowerment, human rights, and social justice.
What distinguishes CFUW North Vancouver is its unique blend of grassroots activism and personal connection. The organization provides members with opportunities to put their education to meaningful use—advocating for women, children, and families while completing worthwhile community projects. Members engage with issues spanning local, provincial, national, and global concerns, suggesting and reviewing resolutions for submission to government bodies. Simultaneously, the club prioritizes the personal relationships that sustain long-term commitment, with smaller interest groups providing spaces for friendship, intellectual stimulation, and shared pursuits.
The organization maintains a strong partnership with CFUW West Vancouver, sharing four joint interest groups and collaborating on major events and speaker programs. This collaborative spirit extends to their broader networks within CFUW National and Graduate Women International, connecting North Vancouver women to a global movement for women's education and equality. Today, whether attending monthly meetings at the Royal Canadian Legion or participating in online gatherings via Zoom, members find a welcoming, fun community where they can contribute to meaningful change while building lasting friendships with like-minded women.
