About Chinese-American Friendship Association of North Carolina
Founded on October 5, 1996, the Chinese-American Friendship Association of North Carolina (CAFA) is a non-political, nonprofit organization serving the Cary and greater North Carolina community. As a 501(c)(3) approved organization, CAFA has dedicated nearly three decades to fostering meaningful connections among Chinese and Chinese-American residents while promoting cultural exchange and community success. The organization's core mission centers on building lasting friendships within the community, helping members thrive in American society, protecting member rights, and advancing Sino-American cultural, scientific, and technological exchange.
CAFA is recognized as the largest Lunar New Year celebration organizer in North Carolina, hosting vibrant cultural events that showcase dance, music, opera, and authentic Chinese traditions. The organization also presents the annual Taste of China Festival in downtown Cary, celebrating food, culture, and community with live performances and family-friendly activities. Beyond celebrations, CAFA provides practical member benefits including discounts at local supermarkets, restaurants, and merchants throughout the Cary area. Governed by an active Board of Directors and Executive Committee, CAFA remains committed to serving as a bridge between cultures while strengthening the social fabric of North Carolina. Through cultural programming, community service initiatives, and member support services, CAFA continues to embody its founding vision of unity and mutual success for Chinese and Chinese-American families in Cary, NC and beyond.
