About Chinese American Medical Association of Southern California
Founded in the 1970s as the Chinese Physicians for Chinatown (CPC) and formally established as a non-profit organization in 1985, the Chinese American Medical Association of Southern California (CAMASC) represents nearly five decades of dedicated service to the San Marino, CA medical community and beyond. What began as a grassroots initiative to support Chinese physicians has evolved into a comprehensive professional organization with hundreds of active members committed to bridging healthcare gaps and enriching medical practice.
CAMASC's identity is rooted in a deep commitment to community health and physician development. The organization believes that healthcare improvement for Chinese populations requires both continuous professional growth and active community engagement. This philosophy guides everything CAMASC does, from accredited continuing medical education programs to volunteer-led health fairs and educational outreach in local schools and institutions. Member physicians are encouraged to contribute their expertise through media appearances, newsletter articles, and discussions about pressing health issues and preventive care strategies. By fostering a collaborative environment where physicians can advance their knowledge while simultaneously serving their communities, CAMASC has created a unique professional home for healthcare providers in San Marino and throughout Southern California who view medicine not just as individual practice, but as a calling to strengthen the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve.
