About Coalition of Labor Union Women King County

Since its founding in 1974, the Coalition of Labor Union Women has been the singular national voice for union women in America, and the King County chapter continues this vital mission in the Seattle, WA community. CLUW operates as a nonpartisan organization within the labor movement, built on four foundational objectives: empowering women for greater participation at all levels in unions, organizing the unorganized, promoting affirmative action and workplace justice, and increasing women's involvement in political and legislative engagement. The organization brings together union women who are committed to creating lasting change around equal pay, workplace safety, healthcare access, and protection from harassment and discrimination. Members of CLUW King County are part of a strong, unified movement that transforms individual concerns into collective action and systemic change. The chapter maintains deep connections to the broader labor movement while remaining focused on the specific needs and aspirations of women workers. Through annual conventions, member networks, committees, and community engagement, CLUW King County fosters solidarity among union women and demonstrates the power of organized women working together to shape their workplaces, communities, and the future of the labor movement itself.
