Coalition of Labor Union Women Metro Detroit Chapter
About Coalition of Labor Union Women Metro Detroit Chapter
Since 1974, the Coalition of Labor Union Women has served as the singular national voice for union women in America, and the Metro Detroit Chapter brings this vital mission to the Detroit, MI community. CLUW operates as a nonpartisan organization within the labor movement, dedicated to unifying women across union sectors to identify common concerns and develop meaningful solutions. The organization was built on four core objectives: empowering women for greater participation at all levels in labor unions, organizing previously unorganized workers, promoting affirmative action and workplace justice, and increasing women's involvement in political and legislative advocacy. In Detroit and throughout the region, CLUW members stand together on issues that matter most—from fighting for equal pay and job security to advocating for affordable healthcare, safe workplaces, and protection from harassment and violence. The Metro Detroit Chapter represents a community of union women committed to transforming the labor movement from within, ensuring that women's voices shape decisions affecting working families. By combining grassroots organizing with strategic advocacy, CLUW Metro Detroit continues building a stronger, more inclusive labor movement where all women can thrive.
