About Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association
Founded in 1993, the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association emerged from the vision of dedicated attorneys committed to creating meaningful change within Connecticut's legal community. What began as a collaboration among founding members from Hartford, New Haven, and Bridgeport has grown into a thriving organization with over one hundred members, including judges appointed to the Connecticut state judiciary and historic firsts including the first Hispanic to serve on the Connecticut Supreme Court. The CHBA's mission extends far beyond professional networking—it is rooted in a deep commitment to community service and social responsibility. The organization operates mentoring programs serving Hispanic law students, college students, and high school students, along with dedicated scholarship initiatives to support the next generation of legal professionals. Throughout its history, CHBA members have been instrumental advocates for justice system improvements, including efforts to examine the treatment of racial and ethnic minorities in Connecticut courts and advocacy for interpreter services accessibility. Based in Hartford, the organization remains active across multiple regions of Connecticut, with membership outreach committees in Fairfield and New Haven ensuring broad representation. The Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association's impact on judicial appointments, legal education, and community advocacy demonstrates its unwavering dedication to advancing Hispanic representation in law while fostering a more equitable legal system for all Connecticut residents.
