About Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento
Serving the Sacramento, California region and surrounding communities since 1942, the Consulate General of Mexico has built a legacy of diplomatic service and cultural connection spanning more than eight decades. What began as a single Career Consulate with jurisdiction over nine northeastern California counties has grown into a comprehensive governmental institution overseeing twenty-four counties throughout the state. This expansion reflects the growing importance of the consulate's mission to serve Mexican nationals and foster meaningful relationships between the Government of Mexico and the broader California community. The elevation of the consulate to General status in 1997 marked a significant milestone in its evolution, demonstrating the commitment to providing enhanced services and representation. Throughout its history, the Sacramento consulate has been guided by fifteen Career Consuls and four General Consuls who have dedicated themselves to advancing diplomatic objectives and supporting the communities they serve. Today, the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento continues its vital work as a bridge between two nations, maintaining strong ties with the diverse populations across its twenty-four-county jurisdiction and upholding the values of international cooperation and mutual respect.
