Dante Alighieri Society of Washington
About Dante Alighieri Society of Washington
Since 1984, the Dante Alighieri Society of Washington has been the premier community organization dedicated to celebrating and sharing Italian language and culture throughout Seattle and the greater Washington state region. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and official chapter of the internationally recognized Società Dante Alighieri, the society embraces anyone who enjoys all things Italian and desires to expand their knowledge of this beautiful country and its people. The organization's mission centers on promoting Italian culture through multiple avenues: comprehensive language instruction at all proficiency levels, cultural gatherings featuring food and wine, presentations on Italian art and history, and special events throughout the year including an annual Christmas celebration. What sets the Dante Alighieri Society apart is its deep commitment to community connection and cultural exchange. Members and students participate in intimate dinner meetings, attend lectures on topics ranging from Roman fountains to Alba white truffles, and explore the Italian heritage of community members. The society offers membership benefits including discounts at attractions in Italy and opportunities for free tickets to cultural events like the SIFF Cinema Italian-style film festival. For over 40 years, the Dante Alighieri Society of Washington has created a welcoming space where Seattle residents can deepen their appreciation for Italian language, art, cuisine, and lifestyle. Whether attending language classes or cultural events, members become part of a vibrant community connected by shared passion for Italian culture and values of friendship, elegance, and cultural enrichment.
