About D.C. Celebrates Ukraine's Independence Day!
Join us on August 22 for a rally, march, and concert with Ukrainian music, poetry, and dance celebrating Ukraine’s Independence Day!
On Saturday, August 22, for the fifth year in a row, US Ukrainian Activists (USUA) is bringing together supporters of Ukraine, the Ukrainian diaspora, and local Ukrainian-American groups and organizations to celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day in Washington, D.C. This three-part event tradition was founded in 2022 and has been organized since then by Nadiya Shaporynska, President of US Ukrainian Activists (USUA).
💛💙Join us for a rally and march, followed by a concert featuring Ukrainian music, poetry, and dance, as we come together to honor Ukrainian Independence, Liberty, Heritage, and Culture!
August 24, Ukraine’s Independence Day, will also mark 4.5 years since the start of russia’s full-scale genocidal war against Ukraine, launched by the russian federation on February 24, 2022. During the event, we will honor the countless Ukrainian heroes and victims of russia’s 12-year-long invasion of Ukraine.
This family-friendly event welcomes everyone, Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians alike.

*****
This year, we will celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day at the Lincoln Memorial because the White House area, where we held the official part of our event during the last four years, as well as the Taras Shevchenko Memorial, are currently fenced off with no announced reopening timeline. In previous years, we marched with a large Ukrainian flag from the White House to the Taras Shevchenko Memorial. This year, we will march from the Lincoln Memorial around the Washington Monument and back to the Lincoln Memorial, where the event will conclude with a concert.

US Ukrainian Activists (USUA)
US Ukrainian Activists (USUA) is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) U.S. nonprofit charitable organization committed to supporting Ukraine, its culture, and its people in their fight for liberty, independence, democracy, and a promising prosperous future. We are dedicated to helping save lives in Ukraine and providing essential assistance to those in need to defend themselves, survive, recover, rebuild, and receive other necessary support. Beyond humanitarian aid, we raise awareness, advocate for Ukraine, and promote its rich cultural legacy. Since March 2014, when russia launched its hybrid war in Eastern Ukraine, our dedicated volunteers have been at the forefront—advocating for Ukraine and delivering vital aid from the U.S. In 2015, Nadiya Shaporynska, Founder and President, created the name US Ukrainian Activists (USUA) and designed the logo for our volunteer team. Over time, our group evolved into a fully recognized nonprofit organization with tax-exempt status under EIN 85-0784959. Today, our team continues to stand firmly in support of Ukraine, committed to making a lasting impact during this challenging time.
