The Lovely Ladies of Delta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated represent a remarkable chapter in both the University of Texas at Austin and the broader African-American community. Established on May 16, 1959, Delta Xi holds the distinction of being the first Black Greek-letter organization on the UT Austin campus, founded during a pivotal moment when its charter members were among the first African American students admitted to the university.

Rooted in the national legacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated—America's first Black Greek-letter organization established in 1908—Delta Xi carries forward a tradition of cultivating high scholastic and ethical standards while promoting unity and friendship among college women. The chapter's charter members were serenaded by members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, symbolizing the bonds of mutual respect and support within the Black Greek community.

Today, Delta Xi Chapter strives to promote academic excellence and community service among Black college women in Austin, Texas, while helping others achieve their goals. The chapter has produced hundreds of dynamic women who uphold the common ideals of Excellence, Service, and Progress. Members actively engage in initiatives that address pressing social issues, from health awareness and domestic violence prevention to youth mentorship and holiday service projects benefiting local children's organizations.
