About Fil-Am Association of SCV, Inc.
For over four decades, Fil-Am Association of SCV, Inc. has served as the heart of the Filipino American community in Valencia, California, uniting generations of families through shared heritage and mutual support. What began in the early 1970s as informal gatherings—summer picnics and potluck Christmas parties among Filipino American pioneers—evolved into a formally organized association in 1984 with a clear mission to promote, preserve, and maintain Filipino culture. Incorporated as a California non-profit in 2009 and granted 501(c)(3) federal tax-exempt status in 2012, the organization has grown into a comprehensive community institution serving families across all ages and backgrounds. The association's vision extends beyond cultural celebration to encompass meaningful humanitarian work, educational support for deserving youth, and civic engagement that strengthens the broader Santa Clarita Valley community. At its core, Fil-Am Association of SCV values the family as the central unit of community life, creating welcoming spaces where members reconnect with their Filipino roots, build lasting friendships, and pass cultural traditions to the next generation. The organization's founding members—including pioneers like Adrian Gomez, Rudy Correa, Jun Gatilao, and others—established a legacy of volunteerism and community service that continues to inspire current leaders and members. Today, the association thrives through the dedication of volunteers, board members, and trustees who embody the Bayanihan spirit of collective responsibility. Whether through annual induction balls, family picnics, youth programs, or charitable initiatives, Fil-Am Association of SCV in Valencia remains committed to honoring its past while building a vibrant, inclusive future for Filipino Americans and their families in California.
