Rooted in a simple 1953 cookout at Eagle River Bridge, the Filipino Community of Anchorage Alaska, Inc. has grown into a cherished organization that embodies the spirit of Filipino friendship and mutual care. Founded formally in 1965 by 17 dedicated individuals, FCAA emerged from the natural bonds formed among Filipino service members stationed at Fort Richardson and Elmendorf bases and Filipino families who chose to make Anchorage, AK their home. What began as informal monthly picnics evolved into an organized community dedicated to supporting one another through life's challenges while celebrating shared cultural heritage. The organization's founders envisioned FCAA as the authentic voice of Filipinos in Anchorage, establishing democratic governance through annual elections that give every member opportunity to lead and contribute. For decades, FCAA has woven itself into the fabric of Anchorage's diverse community, participating in local celebrations and cultural exchanges that showcase Filipino traditions to the broader city.
