About Filipino Young Professionals of DC

Founded in 1998 as a simple announcement board for Filipino and Filipino-American professionals in the Washington, DC area, Filipino Young Professionals of DC has evolved into a thriving 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with deep roots in the community. What began as an informal listserv among young professionals has grown into a comprehensive organization that hosts regular social gatherings, professional development opportunities, cultural celebrations, and community service initiatives throughout the DMV region. The organization's journey reflects the dedication of countless volunteer leaders who transformed a casual networking group into a formal nonprofit structure, officially incorporated in 2005 and achieving 501(c)(3) status in 2019. Today, FYP-DC operates through four core pillars: professional development, cultural awareness, community outreach, and social recreation. Members enjoy activities ranging from happy hours and hiking trips to dragon boat racing, karaoke nights, and exclusive Filipino Heritage Day celebrations at Nationals Park. The organization's annual leadership conferences, mentorship programs, and cultural initiatives create meaningful opportunities for young professionals to connect, grow, and give back.
