Finland Center Foundation (FCF) is the meeting point where Finnish and American culture, commerce, and community intersect in New York, NY. Founded on the belief that cultural heritage cannot be fully celebrated without peace, human rights, prosperity, and equality between men and women, FCF has been a cornerstone of the Finnish-American community since 2002. The organization champions Finnish values globally while maintaining deep roots in the New York area, supporting Finnish-American organizations and fostering connections among the approximately 3,000 Finns living in the metropolitan region. What distinguishes FCF is its unwavering commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment as fundamental to cultural expression and human dignity. This commitment led to the foundation's catalyzing role in establishing The Kota Alliance, a registered nonprofit that operates the Center for Gender Equity at the Kota Nest in Harlem. FCF's vision extends beyond cultural celebration to active advocacy for the values Finland has championed for decades—making it one of the world's best places for women while promoting these ideals through peacekeeping and aid work globally. The organization operates through dedicated volunteers, interns from Finland, and passionate board members who bring diverse expertise in music, design, medicine, and environmental stewardship.
