About Finlandia Foundation National Capital Chapter

Founded in 1959, the Finlandia Foundation National Capital Chapter (FFNCC) serves as a welcoming community gathering place for Finnish-Americans, Finns, and friends of Finland throughout the Washington, DC area. This non-profit organization brings together individuals who share a passion for Finnish culture, traditions, and heritage through meaningful social connections and engaging activities. The FFNCC is committed to maintaining Finnish and Finnish-American traditions while promoting cultural awareness and advancing knowledge about Finland's developments. Beyond social gatherings, the chapter plays an important role in supporting the broader Finnish-American community by providing grants and scholarships to individuals and organizations in the Washington DC metropolitan area that advance Finnish and Finnish-American cultural initiatives. As a chapter of the nationally-recognized Finlandia Foundation National (FFN), the FFNCC is part of a larger movement dedicated to preserving and celebrating Finnish culture across the United States. The organization invites all area Finnish-Americans, Finns, and friends of Finland to join its community and participate in upcoming events and activities. With over 200 members, the FFNCC continues to foster meaningful relationships, celebrate shared heritage, and create opportunities for cultural exchange and learning within the Washington, DC region and beyond.
