About Friends of Armenian Culture Society
The Friends of Armenian Culture Society (FACS) represents over six decades of community dedication to preserving and celebrating Armenian cultural heritage in Belmont, Massachusetts and throughout the Boston area. Founded on a vision of enriching Armenian cultural traditions, FACS was established by passionate individuals who recognized the importance of sharing Armenian classical music and artistic achievements with broader audiences. The organization's journey began with the groundbreaking sponsorship of Armenian Night at the Pops in 1952, an ambitious initiative that launched what would become a storied tradition of cultural programming. FACS has built its reputation through the collective efforts of its Honorary Board, Board of Directors, Associate Board, and prestigious Advisory Board, with visionary leadership from executives who dedicated themselves to the organization's mission over many years. The society's commitment extends beyond concerts to include radio broadcasting, archival preservation, and tributes to influential composers and artists. A notable example includes a 1969 concert of Sharagans at Jordan Hall commemorating President John F. Kennedy, with recordings preserved in the JFK Library archives. Today, FACS continues its legacy by showcasing diverse performances by Armenian composers and featuring both established and emerging artists of Armenian descent. The organization thrives on the relationships it has built with the community, musicians, and cultural institutions throughout the region. By supporting FACS in Belmont, MA, you become part of a multigenerational movement to honor Armenian artistic excellence and ensure these cultural traditions flourish for future generations.
