About Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association
Founded in 1993 by Professor Natsu Saito and Judge Alvin T. Wong, the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association (GAPABA) emerged from a simple but powerful vision: to create a supportive network for Asian Pacific American attorneys in Atlanta, GA and throughout the state. Beginning with just 13 charter members identified through the Georgia Bar Directory, GAPABA has evolved into a thriving organization of over 500 members representing diverse legal backgrounds and career paths.
GAPABA's mission reflects a deep commitment to community and professional solidarity. The organization believes in the importance of representation, advocacy, and mutual support within the legal profession. By bringing together judges, government officials, law firm leaders, and emerging practitioners, GAPABA creates meaningful connections that strengthen both individual careers and the broader legal community. The association recognizes that Asian Pacific American legal professionals bring unique perspectives and valuable contributions to Georgia's legal landscape.
Beyond professional networking, GAPABA demonstrates genuine commitment to serving Atlanta's Asian Pacific American communities by coordinating legal services and ensuring access to justice for underrepresented populations. Through its Law Foundation, established to support the next generation of attorneys, GAPABA invests in law students and emerging professionals through scholarships and fellowships.
