Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys
About Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys
Since 1981, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) has been a transformative force in Atlanta, GA and throughout the state, championing advocacy, equity, and empowerment for over four decades. Founded by a group of African American women committed to meaningful change, GABWA's mission centers on three core pillars: focusing on women and children's issues, increasing Black female representation in the judiciary and public offices, and taking a proactive stance on political issues affecting Georgia's communities. With an active membership of women and men dedicated to nurturing and galvanizing the power of Black women attorneys, GABWA serves as both a professional organization and a catalyst for social change. The organization maintains an open membership policy welcoming all individuals who share its vision, from elected and appointed officials to philanthropists, community activists, and trailblazers across diverse legal sectors. GABWA's impact extends throughout Georgia's statewide network, with regional chapters ensuring that members in Albany, Athens, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, and Savannah can engage locally while contributing to statewide initiatives. Beyond professional development, GABWA actively engages in the political process at the local level through candidate endorsements and community service projects that directly benefit women and children. The organization hosts regular meetings, networking events, and community outreach initiatives designed to build lasting relationships and create meaningful change. For individuals seeking to connect with like-minded legal professionals while making a difference in their communities, GABWA represents a legacy of service, sisterhood, and collective power dedicated to reshaping Georgia's legal landscape and uplifting underrepresented voices.
