About GMU Black Alumni and Friends Homecoming Events 2026 (80s-90s-early 2000s)
The GMU homecoming experience is NOT what you think it is…
Our GMU Black Alumni and Friends group representing DECADES (80s, 90s, & early 2000s) have created our own homecoming experience. Each one provides another chance to strengthing existing friendships while forging new ones. They also offer an opportunity for us to celebrate our role in laying the foundation for what Mason is today.
This year we're proud to support three charitable organizations founded by Mason alums (see below for more information).
Join the Decades at Homecoming 2026 (January 31st and February 6-9th). Get ready for plenty of excitement, laughter, and reflection. You won’t be disappointed. GMU whaaat!

GMU Black Alumni and Friends
The Black Alumni Chapter (BAC) has worked to turn a shared vision into an organization dedicated to bringing alumni together and creating a link with the university. The BAC has evolved from a small group of alumni and faculty into a formal alumni chapter with an energetic leadership. In January 2003, the BAC became a formal alumni chapter of George Mason University. At that point, the organization established a governing structure and began mapping a plan for how the BAC could serve alumni. We have adopted the following working mission statement: The BAC, a formal alumni chapter of George Mason University's Alumni Association, brings together alumni through fellowship and professional development activities. The BAC is a resource for alumni to forge lasting relationships, identify professional development opportunities, and match alumni resources with current Black students and organizations; as well as support the university’s growing network of alumni who give back. Our chapter has hosted several events to include Black Alumni Weekend, Homecoming Black Block, Forty Under 40 Honors, Black Scholars Golf Classic, Founders’ Gala, and Step-Off. Future events will typically focus on professional development, networking and scholarship fundraising.
