About Greater Boston PFLAG
Greater Boston PFLAG is a community-driven organization in Waltham, Massachusetts, rooted in a legacy of love and advocacy that began when Jeanne Manford supported her gay son in New York City in 1973. Composed of LGBTQ people, parents, families, friends, and allies, Greater Boston PFLAG embodies the belief that family and community acceptance are fundamental to helping LGBTQ individuals live safely and authentically. The organization's vision centers on creating a world where LGBTQ individuals are safe, supported, included, and equal in their families, communities, and society. What began as a bold group of parents meeting in Cambridge in 1978 has evolved into a vital community resource serving hundreds of families throughout the Greater Boston region. Greater Boston PFLAG honors its commitment to diversity and inclusion by valuing the unique identities and experiences of everyone involved—employees, volunteers, board members, and community partners. The organization creates nurturing environments conducive to learning, growth, and positive change, recognizing that these are the cornerstones of meaningful transformation. Through their annual Pride + Passion fundraiser, Greater Boston PFLAG celebrates exceptional allies and LGBTQ individuals who embody Jeanne Manford's spirit of using their voice for change. By leading with love and building on decades of volunteer dedication, Greater Boston PFLAG continues to advance equity and societal affirmation of LGBTQ people, ensuring that individuals and families in Waltham and beyond have access to understanding, support, and genuine community.
