Greater Toronto Kurdish House
About Greater Toronto Kurdish House
Greater Toronto Kurdish House (GTKH) is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit organization rooted in the Scarborough community since 2005, dedicated to building kinship and positive relationships between Kurdish community members and the diverse multicultural populations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Founded on principles of inclusion and mutual respect, GTKH welcomes people from all political, religious, and regional backgrounds to participate in its mission of cultural preservation and community connection. The organization recognizes the importance of maintaining Kurdish cultural identity while fostering genuine intercultural dialogue and understanding with neighbors across the GTA. GTKH has identified an important gap in available community services and is actively working to expand its offerings to better serve vulnerable populations, including youth, seniors, and people with disabilities. Through its commitment to addressing local education and health concerns, GTKH demonstrates a holistic approach to community wellbeing that extends beyond cultural celebration to encompass the practical support needs of its members. The organization's annual events and year-round programming reflect a deep understanding of what it means to sustain cultural heritage while remaining engaged with the broader Scarborough and Greater Toronto community. By creating welcoming spaces for interfaith and intercultural events alongside cultural celebrations, GTKH embodies the values of unity, respect, and shared prosperity that define its vision for the region.
