Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation
About Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation
Serving the Honolulu, HI community and beyond, the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation represents a 16-year commitment to building a legacy of hope, equality, and unity for LGBTQ+ individuals and organizations throughout Hawaii. Founded in 2008, this federally recognized nonprofit emerged from a vision to connect and support the diverse voices within Hawaii's LGBTQIA+ community, recognizing the unique identities and experiences of Pacific Islander MVPFAFF individuals alongside traditional LGBTQ+ identities. The Foundation's mission centers on supporting, empowering, educating, unifying, and facilitating LGBT organizations and individuals, creating meaningful pathways for community members to thrive. What distinguishes the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation is its holistic approach to community building—from producing Honolulu Pride to hosting the LGBTQ+ Center Honolulu and developing educational initiatives that speak to Hawaii's multicultural context. The organization understands that strengthening the LGBTQ+ community requires addressing interconnected challenges: social inequalities, health disparities, and economic barriers. By providing both direct support and facilitating connections among organizations, the Foundation nurtures an environment where every person can live authentically and contribute meaningfully to Hawaii's diverse society. The Foundation's work reflects deep respect for community voices and commitment to creating lasting, positive change in Honolulu and across the Hawaiian islands.
