The Heritage Signature Chorale presents Our Heritage…Our Strength, the 2026 Artistic Legacy Concert celebrating the power, resilience, and artistry of Black composers. As part of our Legacy Series, this performance honors the extraordinary contributions of African American musicians who have shaped and elevated the choral tradition.

The concert highlights the work of a plethora of composers including Robert Jefferson, Mervyn Warren, Robert L. Morris, and Don Lee White, and features moving selections such as Soon I Will Be Done with the Trouble of the World, I Ain’t Got Long to Be Here, ’The Resurrection, and Deep River.

Prepare to be immersed in a rich soundscape that spans spirituals, gospel, contemporary choral works, and sacred music—each piece a testament to the enduring spirit and creativity of Black artistry.

The Heritage Signature Chorale is committed to preserving, at the highest artistic level, the performance art traditions of African-American choral music, especially the Negro Spiritual; to elevating the African-American singer and composer in all musical genres; and to bringing a unique interpretation of classical music from America, Europe and other regions of the world. The Chorale provides a venue for showcasing artists, composers, and arrangers who share this commitment, thereby fostering community awareness and appreciation of this important legacy. Founded in 2000 by Artistic Director Stanley J. Thurston, HSC seeks to enhance opportunities for a new generation of listeners to understand and appreciate the historical legacy of this music through education and performance.
