About Hillel at UCLA
Hillel at UCLA is a vibrant student organization at the University of California - Los Angeles dedicated to creating a home away from home for all Jewish students on campus. With a mission centered on building identities through Jewish life, learning, and Israel engagement, the organization has become a cornerstone of the UCLA Jewish community. The student-led initiative recognizes that meaningful Jewish experiences emerge from understanding each student's unique needs and interests, then connecting them with opportunities to embrace Judaism in ways that resonate personally and spiritually.
Rooted in Jewish values, Hillel at UCLA cultivates community through six interconnected program areas that address the full spectrum of student life: Leadership development that empowers student voices, Social Action that channels Jewish commitment to social justice, Jewish Learning that deepens understanding of tradition and heritage, Israel programming that strengthens connection to Jewish peoplehood, Shabbat and Holiday observances that anchor the community in ritual, and Culture and the Arts that celebrate Jewish creativity and expression.
Based in Los Angeles, CA, Hillel at UCLA has evolved to meet the needs of contemporary Jewish students facing unique challenges. In response to current campus dynamics, the organization has intensified efforts toward building resilient leaders, fostering Jewish unity across different perspectives, and actively combating campus antisemitism. The welcoming environment extends beyond programming to physical spaces where students gather, celebrate, and grow together. By nurturing inclusive community rooted in Jewish heritage and values, Hillel at UCLA empowers students to thrive academically, spiritually, and socially during their college years and beyond.
