About Indian Cultural Association of Howard County
The Indian Cultural Association (ICA) promotes social & cultural ties between the Indian-American community & the community-at-large to advance greater cultural understanding & social equity. During the pandemic, due to widespread hunger in our community, ICA has distributing food and has worked to decrease food insecurity among the most vulnerable in our community.
One third of Howard County families are food insecure. Our commitment to alleviate hunger in our community is unwavering.
A message from ICA Founders: We celebrate Indian culture and serve our people. ICA's programing is designed to help UNITE the people from the Indian subcontinent, to help preserve its culture and traditions, to pass on our cultural heritage to the next generation. It is our goal to unite our diverse communities in order to advance social equity.
Indian Americans are the largest immigrant community in Howard County. We are diverse, multi-ethnic with vibrant Indian communities. Both Howard County and Maryland are vibrant representations of the numerous cultures and religions from around the world. ICA brings people together around Indian culture, song, dance, food, and vibrant culture.
ICA promotes the vibrant culture and heritage of India through various cultural, social, civic, and other activities. We engage in activities designed to better our community through programing focused on serving the most vulnerable in our communities. Our COVID response has meant SEVA, serving those in need. ICA has distributed more food to struggling families in Howard County than the Howard County Food Bank. We have distributed about 2.3 million pounds of food to needy families.
