Irish Association of Manitoba
About Irish Association of Manitoba
Since 1972, the Irish Association of Manitoba has served as a gathering place where Irish heritage, community, and friendship flourish in Winnipeg, MB. Born from the desires of Irish immigrants who arrived in the mid-to-late 1960s seeking connection to their homeland and each other, the organization was founded on the principle that there are no strangers at the Irish Club—only friends you haven't met yet. The founding members established the association with a steadfast commitment to being non-political, non-sectarian, and not-for-profit, intentionally creating a welcoming space free from division. Over five decades, the Irish Association of Manitoba has grown into a vital cultural institution that celebrates Irish traditions through theatre, music, dance, and social events while actively supporting the next generation through educational scholarships. Located at 654 Erin Street in Winnipeg, the organization proudly owns its building and operates as a complete cultural center featuring a library, event spaces, and traditional Irish hospitality. The association welcomes all who embrace Irish culture, whether born in Ireland or simply passionate about the heritage, and continues to honor its founding vision by preserving Irish traditions, fostering genuine community connections, and welcoming newcomers to Manitoba with the traditional Irish greeting: Cead Mille Failte—a hundred thousand welcomes.
