Irish Diaspora Center
About Irish Diaspora Center
For more than 25 years, the Irish Diaspora Center has been the heart of Irish community life in Havertown, PA and the Greater Philadelphia region. Originally established as the Irish Immigration Center in 1998, the organization has evolved into a comprehensive hub strengthening Irish culture, identity, and heritage while supporting the unique needs of Irish immigrants and Irish-Americans. This charitable 501(c)(3) organization works in partnership with the government of Ireland and Irish organizations nationwide to amplify the voice of Irish Philadelphia. The center's mission centers on building meaningful connections—from Friday night card games and coffee mornings with visiting Irish politicians to educational classes, genealogy groups, and celebratory fundraising events. Members consistently praise the welcoming atmosphere and genuine friendships formed at the center. Beyond social programming, the Irish Diaspora Center provides essential support through senior outreach initiatives, youth programs, and mental health and wellness services. The organization understands that community thrives when people feel supported across all life dimensions. By offering meeting space, resources, and advice to local groups and initiatives, the center empowers grassroots community development. Rooted in Havertown, the Irish Diaspora Center represents a commitment to ensuring that every member of the Irish community—young and old—has access to the support, connection, and cultural affirmation needed to thrive.
