About Irish Network DC
At the heart of Washington, DC's diverse Irish and Irish-American community stands Irish Network DC, an organization dedicated to bridging cultures and strengthening bonds between Ireland and the United States. Founded in January 2010 through the collaborative vision of Ambassador Michael Collins and the Embassy of Ireland, Irish Network DC emerged from a broader movement to reinvigorate economic and cultural connections between the two nations during a pivotal moment in history.
The organization's mission centers on creating authentic connections among its members through shared identity, heritage, and love for Ireland. Irish Network DC believes that membership should be inclusive and welcoming—open to Irish-born individuals, Irish-Americans, and anyone who shares a genuine interest in Ireland and Irish culture. This inclusive philosophy has enabled the organization to grow into a vibrant community of engaged individuals spanning professional, cultural, and social circles throughout Washington, DC.
Since receiving 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in 2012, Irish Network DC has deepened its commitment to cultural, educational, social, and philanthropic endeavors. The organization takes pride in its neutral political stance, viewing this as a strength that enables meaningful dialogue and civil discussion across diverse perspectives. Through formal and informal partnerships with other Irish organizations in the Washington, DC area—including groups focused on boxing, Gaelic sports, Irish language, and cultural celebration—Irish Network DC has become a unifying force that strengthens the entire Irish-American community while fostering deeper, unbreakable ties between Ireland and America.
