Italian Art in Focus: A Guided Tour at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
About Italian Art in Focus: A Guided Tour at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Join us for an evening exploring works connected to Italy during the Medieval and Early Renaissance periods at the MFAH.
This guided experience begins at the Italian Cultural & Community Center with a short framing session introducing the historical and cultural developments that shaped Italy between the 13th and early 15th centuries. We will then walk together to the museum for a docent-led tour highlighting artworks by Italian artists, works depicting Italy, and pieces that reflect Italian cultural heritage during this transformative era.
Together, we will explore how artistic traditions evolved from Medieval devotional imagery toward the naturalism and innovation associated with the early Renaissance.

Italian Cultural & Community Center
In 1976, the Italian Cultural & Community Center (ICCC) of Houston was formed as an umbrella organization. The ICCC coordinated the activities of more than 20 Italian clubs in the greater Houston area. ICCC Houston became a nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3) status in 1982. With the proceeds from its earliest fundraising efforts, ICCC purchased the historic Milford House in Houston’s Museum District in 1988, which became home to the Italian Cultural & Community Center. The Italian Cultural & Community Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance, celebrate and preserve Italian heritage and culture. ICCC Houston is proud to share the gift of Italian culture with all Houstonians through a wide variety of events held throughout the year, including film screenings, wine tastings, lectures, history classes, kids’ cooking classes, language classes, and more.
