About Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Cleveland Chapter
Founded in 1949 in Shaker Heights, OH, the Cleveland Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. represents a legacy of maternal dedication and community investment spanning over 75 years. What began as a small gathering of 23 mothers with a vision to enrich their children's lives has evolved into a vibrant community of 74 families united by a common purpose: raising the next generation of African American leaders while enhancing the lives of all children.
Jack and Jill of America operates on the philosophy of holistic enrichment, recognizing that strong families and engaged communities are essential to developing confident, capable young people. The organization's approach combines cultural exposure, educational opportunities, and hands-on community service to create meaningful experiences that shape character and perspective. Members of the Cleveland Chapter participate in regular activities that celebrate African American heritage, develop financial literacy and leadership skills, and foster a deep sense of social responsibility.
The Cleveland Chapter continues the specific objectives and aims established by the national organization's founder, Marion Stubbs Thomas, in 1938. Today, the chapter remains committed to providing children with the best education, opportunities, and experiences while building strong networks among families in the Greater Cleveland area. This membership-based community reflects a powerful commitment to making a measurable difference in the lives of children and families.
