About Jagiellonian Law Society
Based in Philadelphia, PA, the Jagiellonian Law Society represents a community of legal professionals united by shared heritage and commitment to advancing human rights and the rule of law. Founded as a nonsectarian, nonpartisan organization, JLS brings together multicultural, bicultural, and bilingual members dedicated to fostering understanding and respect across different countries, cultures, and legal systems. The society's mission extends beyond professional networking to include meaningful community engagement through pro bono initiatives, educational programs, and cultural celebration. Members work collectively to eliminate bias and enhance tolerance, standing firmly against prejudice and stereotyping while promoting open access to courts and equitable legal institutions. JLS serves as a vital bridge connecting the American, Polish, Polish-American, and broader Central and Eastern European legal communities, deepening understanding of Polish and CEE cultures and history in the United States. The organization celebrates the depth and richness of Polish culture alongside that of other CEE nations, supporting various cultural and artistic events that strengthen community bonds. Through scholarships, social gatherings, and collaborative partnerships with legal and academic organizations, JLS creates meaningful connections among legal professionals while advancing shared values of dignity, justice, and international cooperation. The society aspires to become the go-to forum for legal issues affecting these interconnected communities across the United States and Poland.
