For over five decades, the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth has been the catalyst for vibrant, lasting interaction between the people of North Texas and Japan, operating from its Plano, TX headquarters with a mission rooted in enduring friendship and trust. Founded in 1970 to promote understanding between Japanese and Americans in Dallas, the organization expanded its service area in 1995 to embrace the entire Dallas/Fort Worth region. The Society has built a remarkable legacy of significant accomplishments, including negotiating an International Friendship City agreement between Dallas and Sendai, Japan, raising $186,000 for earthquake and tsunami recovery in Sendai, and hosting the 22nd Japan-America Grassroots Summit. What distinguishes this Plano-based organization is its commitment to creating meaningful person-to-person and business-to-business connections that form the foundation for international peace and understanding.
