Jolt Action
About Jolt Action
Jolt Action is the largest Latino progressive organization in Texas, rooted in Austin and serving communities across the entire state. Founded in 2016 by civil rights leader Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez, Jolt emerged from a commitment to centering Latino voices in Texas democracy and recognizing that the community has the power to determine who gets elected and what laws get passed. At its core, Jolt is a movement of Latinos working together to win on the issues that matter most to their families and neighborhoods. Rather than aligning with any single party or politician, Jolt stands squarely with the Latino community—supporting families and youth who have worked hard to create opportunities and build better futures. The organization understands that meaningful change requires investment in people, which is why Jolt focuses on developing Latino leadership, speaking truth to power through direct action, and engaging voters year-round on issues that affect their daily lives. From student organizing at high schools and college campuses to cultural storytelling that amplifies community narratives, Jolt creates spaces where young Latinos can develop their voices and agency. Operating in Austin and throughout Texas, Jolt recognizes that with over 10.8 million Latinos in the state, the community has the collective strength to reshape Texas politics and policy. Jolt's mission is clear: give Latinos the tools, platforms, and solidarity they need to have a real say in how Texas is run and to build a democracy that works for everyone.
